Mothers who are members of the military community deserve special recognition for their love, dedication, and sacrifice, each and every day. Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and honor the mother or military wife, and/or a service member mom.
This year Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 9th, 2021. Mother’s Day is always the second Sunday in May.

History of Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day has many different adaptations going back to ancient times. Officially, it became a U.S. holiday in 1914 created by Anna Jarvis. However, it was Anna Jarvis’s mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, who planted the seeds for this day when she started “Mother’s Day Work Clubs” during the Civil War era. Ironically, Anna Jarvis would come to denounce Mother’s Day due to the commercialization of the holiday and even attempted to have it removed as a holiday until her death in 1948.
