It’s interesting to see how the military pay today compares to what service members made in the past. Basic pay is the primary compensation amount offered to United States Armed Forces members. The pay rates are raised annually to accommodate the increased cost of living and are managed by the Department of Defense. Some military members may earn more depending on various allowances and special pay amounts they may be eligible for.
