2020 Reserve Educational Assistance Program Rates (REAP)

The 2020 REAP rates are effective as of October 1st, 2019, and active through September 30th, 2020. Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP) rates are updated each year in order to offset inflation. This year, rates increased by about 1% compared to the previous year. These benefits last for up to 36 months of schooling because one school year is about nine months in total.

Reserve Educational Assistance Program Rates (REAP)REAP benefits provide educational assistance to members of the Reserve components called or ordered to “Active Service” in response to a war or national emergency, as declared by the President or Congress.

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2016 ended REAP on November 25, 2015. Some individuals will remain eligible.

Reserve components consist of Air Force Reserve, Army Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard and the Air National Guard. “Active Service” is service on active duty, mobilized or full-time Active National Guard (AGR) duty.

Educational Assistance Allowance for trainees under the Reserve Educational Assistance Program (Ch. 1607 of Title 10, U.S.C.).  For trainees on an active duty, payment is limited to reimbursement of tuition and fees for the training taken.
