Congress Agrees to Limit Troop Pay, BAH and Increase Prescription Costs

Updated December 8, 2014 Military pay limited to a 1% increase, BAH will be reduced 1% and there will be a $3 increase on most prescription co-pays for 2015.  These provisions are a part of the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which The House and Senate Armed Services committee just agreed to. 2015 Military Pay Raise

Congress has agreed in principle to set the military pay increase at 1%.  Congress still needs to pass the NDAA and the president signs but this expected to happen with no additional changes.  The proposed military pay increase for fiscal year 2015 was 1% according to the FY 2015 defense budget.  The House of Representatives passed a 1.8% version but the Democrat controlled Senate did not agree. 2015 BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) Rates

The proposed 2015 BAH rate will be 1% lower once Congress and the President approve the defense budget this December.  The defense bill originally included a 5% reduction that had service members paying 5% out-of-pocket costs and the loss of renters insurance (1%) factored into BAH.  Veterans are exempt from the BAH reduction and thus Post-9/11 GI Bill recipients […]
